Libya Oil Joint Company vows to strengthen environmental performance

Libya Oil Joint Company has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development, as organisations around the world marked World Environment Day on Thursday.

In a statement reviewed by Libyan Express, the company’s Chairman, Khalifa Shebani, said Libya Oil Joint Company remains focused on conducting its operations responsibly while strengthening environmental performance and creating long-term value.

Shebani said the company is committed to embedding sustainability across its activities through greater efficiency, innovation and adherence to industry best practice.

“By embracing innovation, efficiency and industry best practice, the company seeks to protect the environment, support Libyan communities and integrate sustainability into every aspect of its business,” the statement said.

The company said sustainability continues to play a central role in its corporate strategy, with ongoing efforts aimed at improving operational performance, reducing environmental impact and supporting the communities in which it operates.

Libya Oil Joint Company was established under Resolution No. 292 of 2007 and is authorised to distribute and market petroleum products across Libya. The company is wholly owned by the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio (LAIP), one of the country’s largest state-owned investment institutions.

World Environment Day, observed annually on 5 June, is led by the United Nations and serves as a global platform for raising awareness of environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices.

Libya Oil Joint Company said it would continue pursuing initiatives that strengthen environmental stewardship and responsible resource management, while supporting the long-term development of Libya’s energy sector.
