Libya removes Cairo embassy chief in diplomatic shake-up
Arab League envoy to head Libya's Cairo mission
Libya’s Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba has removed Mohamed Abdel-Ali Misbah from his post as Chargé d’Affaires at the Libyan Embassy in Egypt.
Abdel-Muttalib Al-Thabet, Libya’s current representative to the Arab League, has been appointed to manage the embassy’s affairs on a temporary basis, according to a government decree.
The outgoing diplomat, Mr Abdel-Ali, had served in the role since July 2021, when he succeeded Ramadan Sahil.
The Government of National Unity has not provided reasons for the diplomatic reshuffle at one of Libya’s most important foreign missions in the region.
