The Libyan Deputy Interior Minister Faraj Egayem has been detained by the forces of Libya’s eastern strongman Khalifa Haftar in Al-Marij town after the townsmen handed him over to Haftar’s General Command, sources told a Libyan local TV on Wednesday.

Al-Nabaa TV reported that the Deputy Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Egayem has been tortured and beaten until he suffered a broken leg and is now in awful health conditions.

This new comes after a vendetta broke out between Egayem and Haftar earlier this month.

Egayem escaped two assassination attempt on November 05 and 10 and he accused Haftar of being behind the two of them, vowing on 218 TV Channel to topple over Haftar and scandalize him for all the crimes he and his forces committed in Benghazi.

Egayem also called on all eastern forces and leaders to mandate the commander in Operation Dignity Special Forces Wanis Bukhamada as the Chief of Army instead of Haftar.

However, one day after Egayem’s statements, Haftar’s forces attacked Egayem’s followers and forces as well as tribesmen in Bersis in Benghazi, which led them to surrender and issue an apology to Haftar.
