Libyan MP claims foreign plot targets oil field

A Libyan parliamentarian has alleged a conspiracy involving foreign powers and domestic forces to gain control of the strategic Ghadames oil field, raising concerns over the country’s energy security.
House of Representatives member Ali Al-Takbali claimed in a social media statement that Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba’s government, along with local security forces and four unnamed countries, are involved in what he termed a “dangerous conspiracy” targeting the oil facility.
According to Al-Takbali’s Facebook post, the alleged arrangement includes financial incentives of $10 million to each participating nation, reportedly in exchange for supporting an extension of Prime Minister Al-Dabaiba’s term by four years.
The lawmaker expressed particular concern over alleged coordinated movements between the Deterrence Forces, Ghenwa forces, and the government, though these claims remain unverified.
The allegations come amid ongoing tensions over control of Libya’s oil resources, which represent the country’s primary source of revenue.
The accused parties, including the Government of National Unity, have not responded to requests for comment on these allegations.
