The city of Zliten in central Libya is commemorating the tragic massacre that was carried out by IS militants on the Zliten Coast Guard Police Center on January 07, 2016.
On January 07, 2016, a truck driven by an IS assailant stormed into the Zliten Coast Guard Police Center, then the truck was blown off in the middle of the center’s training square, in which there were over 300 police trainees.
Over 74 police trainees and other police coaches and staffers were killed and over 200 were injured.
IS terror group claimed responsibility for the suicide attack and named Abdullah Al-Muhajer as the man who committed suicide and exploded the truck.
Many national and international entities, including the UN, condemned this attack then and said it was an attempt to terrorize Libya and turn it into a failed state.
