Libya’s HoR Speaker enlists Russia’s assistance and influence

Libya’s development requires the experience and assistance of Russia and the country intends to promote bilateral cooperation with Moscow in various spheres, including the military one, Libyan House of Representatives Speaker Aqilah Saleh told Sputnik Friday.
“Libya is a rich country, which needs foreign experience and support of such great states as Russia. We see that there is a large room for developing the relations between Libya and Russia, there are long-standing ties in various fields: oil and gas, railways, agriculture and others, and we need Russia in the reconstruction of the country and to train the army in particular,” Saleh told Sputnik.
Saleh stressed that Libya had vast potential for cooperation, possessing “all the natural riches,” including gas, gold and iron resources, as well as tourist regions and assured that the country remains committed to its obligations taken before 2011.
This visit by Saleh comes less than one month after a visit by the Operation Dignity leader, Khalifa Haftar, who is affiliated with the HoR.
