Military factions engage in armed conflict in Tripoli

Heavy fighting broke out Wednesday between Special Deterrence Forces and members of the 444th Combat Brigade at the Takbali camp on the outskirts of the capital.
“The situation remains critically volatile in the vicinity of Takbali camp, where fierce armed confrontations involving heavy artillery continue to rage between Special Deterrence Forces and military elements entrenched at the headquarters of the 444th Combat Brigade,” high-ranking security officials revealed exclusively to Libyan Express.
Residents reported hearing explosions and sustained gunfire beginning in the early morning hours. Local authorities have advised civilians to avoid the area until the situation stabilises.
Emergency services have responded to the area, though no official casualty figures have been released. Government representatives have called for restraint as efforts to contain the violence continue.
This incident marks the most significant armed confrontation in the capital region in recent months.
