Mitig meets Gentiloni in Italy, say protecting Libya’s coast is priority for all Europe
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Mitig, met Friday with the Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni. They both agreed that protection and security alongshore the Libyan coast will be the priority of Italy and all Europe.
“We want to help Libya boost it’s capabilities to control its borders.” Gentiloni told Mitig.
While Mitig said Libya us in need for putting an end to the influx of illegal immigrants that arrive in southern Libya from Niger, Chad, and Sudan.
On the sane issue, Gentiloni commented by promising to help the GNA and its security personnel put firm grip on the southern borders.
Gentiloni also said that Italy is ready to take the lead in training the Libyan Coast Guard personnel.
