National reconciliation forum begins in Benghazi
The House of Representatives’ (HoR) Justice and National Reconciliation Committee launched its National Reconciliation Forum in Benghazi on Sunday evening.
HoR spokesman Abdullah Blehiq confirmed that representatives from across Libya’s cities and regions are taking part in the event, themed “Reconciliation is a Historical Social Responsibility”.
The forum follows Saturday’s national reconciliation workshop at the HoR headquarters, which carried the theme “For Restorative Justice and Social Peace”.
Key attendees included HoR Second Deputy Speaker Misbah Douma, Justice and National Reconciliation Committee Chairman Mawloud Al-Aswad, and several HoR members. Officials from the parallel government were present, alongside experts and academics from various Libyan universities.
The Justice and National Reconciliation Committee organised the workshop, which addressed several crucial matters. These included discussions on proposed legislation regarding judicial and arbitration procedures, a review of the draft transitional justice and reconciliation law, and an assessment of suggested compensation mechanisms.
