The Italian government announced that its Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni held a meeting with the Italian Foreign Minister, the Interior Minister, and the Defence Minister to discuss the Libyan status quo.

The meeting, according to Italian media, was held Friday and was centered on how to support Libya in the issues of illegal immigration and security.

Italy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Libya that allows both countries to cooperate in fighting illegal immigration, human smuggling and many issues related to the Libyan coastguards.
