Presidential Council orders ceasefire and suspension of Dabaiba’s decisions

The Presidential Council of Libya has issued a comprehensive ceasefire order affecting all areas of conflict, requiring military units to return immediately to their headquarters without conditions.
In the official directive, the Council tasked the General Staff of the Libyan Army with monitoring the situation, documenting any violations and determining responsibility for transgressions.
The decision also freezes all military and security decisions made by the Government of National Unity, including those related to security institution restructuring or personnel appointments, within the scope of the government’s transitional authority.
A fact-finding committee will be established under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff to investigate events that began on Monday and assess resulting damage to public and private property.
The committee must submit a detailed report to the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Army, coordinating with the Military Prosecutor General.
The resolution emphasises the importance of supporting those affected by recent hostilities, evaluating damages and working quickly to address these impacts.
This intervention follows violent military confrontations in Tripoli that occurred Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, resulting in numerous casualties.
The Ministry of Defense from the Government of National Unity has announced its support for the ceasefire agreement and will deploy forces to resolve the conflict and monitor points of contact.
