Report alleges arms flights from Pakistan to Benghazi

Questions raised over reported weapons shipments to Benghazi

A report published by Middle East Eye and followed by Libyan Express has alleged that five cargo aircraft carrying weapons arrived at Benghazi’s airport from Pakistan during March.

According to the report, the flights are believed to have originated from the Pakistani city of Dera Ismail Khan, although the specific types of weapons delivered have not been independently verified.

The outlet said it had been unable to determine the exact nature of the military equipment reportedly transported to forces affiliated with eastern commander Khalifa Haftar.

However, the report links the alleged shipments to a broader arms agreement said to have been concluded between Haftar and Pakistani authorities. The deal is claimed to be worth approximately $4 billion and reportedly financed by Saudi Arabia.

No official confirmation has been issued by Libyan authorities, Pakistan, or Saudi Arabia regarding the claims. The details of the reported agreement, including its scope and timeline, remain unclear.

The allegations come amid ongoing scrutiny of foreign involvement in Libya’s protracted conflict, with repeated international calls for adherence to the United Nations arms embargo on the country.

As of now, the claims remain unverified, and no independent evidence has been publicly presented to substantiate the reported deliveries.
