Sirte Oil restores Zueitina lines, reinforcing Libya’s power supply

Libya revives long-idle gas infrastructure to stabilise electricity grid

Libya’s Sirte Oil Company has successfully restored pressure reduction and metering lines at the Zueitina power station, bringing critical infrastructure back into operation after more than a decade of inactivity.

In a statement reviewed by Libyan Express, the National Oil Corporation said the station is now operating with two active lines, replacing years of dependence on a single line. The development is expected to enhance operational flexibility and improve overall efficiency at the facility.

The restored system will allow the station to handle increased volumes of gas, contributing to higher electricity generation capacity and improved stability of the national grid—particularly during peak demand periods in both summer and winter.

The move comes as part of wider efforts led by NOC Chairman Masoud Suleman to revive stalled and underperforming projects across Libya’s energy sector, with a focus on strengthening infrastructure and ensuring sustainable output.

The NOC board also praised the efforts of national technical teams, highlighting their commitment to restoring vital facilities despite logistical challenges and limited resources.
