SSA arrests suspect believed to be Al-Kaniyat gang member
Libya’s Stability Support Apparatus’ investigation and evidence gathering team was able to seize a named individual (M.Kh.) who is affiliated with criminal gangs led by the so-called “Al-Kaniyat” which admitted, by investigation, that there was a body of an unidentified person, which was killed by others in May 2020 in one of Tarhuna’s schools and was buried there, according to the SSA’s official Facebook page.
Consequently, the Office of the Prosecutor was informed and they travelled to the scene of the incident accompanied by members of the Criminal Investigation Service in co-operation with 444 Brigade combat units to identify the body by contacting the tracing authority, which was extracted earlier after identifying his clothing.
While the arrested person acknowledged his participation in several other crimes, the necessary legal steps have been taken and the arrested individual has been referred to the Office of the Attorney General.
