Iran’s judiciary announced on Monday that it had revoked the residency permits of 1,200 United Arab Emirates nationals residing in the country, ordering them to leave within seven days.

In an official statement, judicial authorities said the decision requires those affected to depart within a week, in what appears to be a reciprocal step following recent measures taken against Iranian nationals abroad.

The move comes after reports that Emirati authorities had cancelled the residency visas of Iranian citizens, leaving some stranded outside the UAE without prior notice.

Observers suggest Tehran’s decision reflects a broader response to what it views as unfriendly actions by the UAE amid a rapidly deteriorating regional climate. The current escalation began after joint United States and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory missile and drone operations targeting strategic sites across the region.

While Iranian officials have not disclosed detailed legal grounds for the decision, the timing highlights the growing diplomatic strain between the two countries, with tensions increasingly affecting civilian residents.

The development underscores how the ongoing crisis is extending beyond military confrontation, with wider humanitarian and diplomatic implications across the region.
