Tripoli launches first municipality-led business hub

Municipality-backed hub set to support Libya’s start-ups

Libya’s capital has unveiled its first municipality-led business hub, aimed at supporting start-ups, creating jobs, and accelerating the country’s economic recovery.

The Tripoli Business Hub, officially opened on Sunday, is managed by Tripoli Centre Municipality with backing from the European Union, Italy, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The facility offers co-working spaces, mentoring, networking, and training programmes, with a particular focus on young people, women, and returning migrants.

Mayor Ibrahim Alkhalify described the hub as “a space for youth creativity”, while UNDP’s Mohammed Salih stressed the role of entrepreneurship in rebuilding and diversifying Libya’s economy.

Designed by local female engineers, the hub is intended as a model for inclusive development and forms part of wider efforts to strengthen Libya’s local economic base, officials said.
