Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan chaired, on Wednesday, an emergency summit looking to guide Muslim leaders towards a coordinated reaction to the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Turkey held the rotating chairmanship of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in hope to inspire unity between divided Muslim leaders to send a strong statement on the move by made the US president Donald Trump.

Last week’s announcement from the US incited a spate of rage in the Muslim and Arab world, with serious criticism from almost every European ally to the US.
