US applauds Tobruk parliament MPs’ approval of GNA cabinet

The Assistant Secretary and Department Spokesperson of the U.S. Bureau of Public Affairs , John Kirby , said his country welcomes the February 23 endorsement for the Cabinet of the Government of National Accord, signed by a majority of Libyan House of Representatives members.
In a press statement Wednesday, John Kirby clarified that the U.S. strongly supports the brave Libyan leaders as they move ahead with forming the Government of National Accord, pointing out that his country is deeply concerned by reports that a small inflexible minority used physical intimidation and threats to disrupt the February 23 session of the House of Representatives in Tobruk in order to prevent a vote on the Cabinet.
He also explained that America has condemned in the strongest terms all attempts to obstruct the Libyan political process.
“The international community, including the United States, will stand by, and provide support to the Government of National Accord as it begins the hard work of restoring stability and building a better future for all Libyans.” The statement concluded.
