UNSMIL to work from inside Libya early next year
UN special envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame said the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is currently working on returning to operate from inside Libya early next year.
During his meeting with the head of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Faiz Al-Sarraj in Tunis, Salame stressed the international community’s eagerness not to leave a vacuum in power and its support to continue on the path of political agreement, according to a statement posted on the GNA media office Facebook page.
The UN envoy to Libya expressed his “optimism” that Libyan politicians will put their country’s interest above any other.
Al-Sarraj praised Salame’s efforts to communicate with all parties in the Libyan crisis.
