US security assistance to reach GNA for fight against ISIS, US military official says
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joseph Dunford, stated Wednesday that the US is discussing with the UN-backed Government of National Accord in Libya the assistance it needs to fight the terrorist militias of ISIS.
Dunford confirmed that an upcoming meeting is soon to take place between the Commander of the United States Africa Command,David Rodriguez, and the Libyan Presidential Council to carry out an analytic outline of the necessary aids for Libya on the security level.
Dunford added that if there were any threats to the US or its citizens and interests, then Washington would act as it did before, alluding to previous American airstrikes against ISIS in Sirte and Sabratha.
