WintershallL Libya oil output threatened with closure over protests

German firm Wintershall confirmed on Thursday that protesters have demanded a shut down of some of the production from oilfields in its concession areas in Libya, Reuters reported.
An engineer at the field and a statement from protesters had said on Wednesday that protesters had shut down 40,000 barrels per day from the fields, according to Reuters.
The statement from protesters from the town of Ajkhara said they had taken the action because of the failure of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to respond to local demands, Reuters added.
“We are in close contact with the community and NOC about that, but please understand that we cannot comment further,” it added.
