Zalla Airport reopens after ten-year closure

Zalla Field Airport has been returned to service after a decade-long shutdown, according to an announcement from the National Oil Corporation (NOC).
NOC Chairman Masoud Suleman said the reopening marks an important step in restoring operational capacity within the oil sector and improving logistical access to field sites.
In a statement published on Facebook, Suleman noted the role of Zueitina Oil Company, led by Management Committee Chairman Khaled Mohamed Al-Sharif, whose teams carried out the rehabilitation works needed to bring the airport back into operation.
The NOC said the facility’s reopening is expected to ease the movement of staff and equipment and support day-to-day operations at the field. Further upgrades across the sector, the corporation added, remain part of its broader plan to maintain stability and sustain production levels.
