Norwegian embassy plans return

Libya and Norway are moving closer to reopening diplomatic channels in Tripoli, as top diplomats from both nations met Thursday to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and regional issues.
Acting Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour held talks with Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Klemetsda, focusing primarily on plans to resume operations at Norway’s embassy in the Libyan capital, a move that would mark a significant step in normalising diplomatic relations.
The high-level meeting, which took place at the Foreign Ministry headquarters, also touched on the ongoing situation in Palestine, with both nations reaffirming their supportive stance on the issue, according to a statement posted on the Libyan Foreign Ministry’s official website.
The potential reopening of Norway’s embassy would signal growing international confidence in Libya’s stability, following years of political uncertainty in the North African nation.
