First LPG tanker since 2017 arrives at Marsa al-Brega port

Marsa al-Brega port has received the LPG tanker Gas Houston, carrying 1,000 metric tonnes of cooking gas, equivalent to around 11,300 barrels, for the local market in the first such delivery since 2017.
The shipment is intended to help stabilise supplies and restore the port’s strategic role in meeting domestic demand, according to a statement published by the National Oil Corporation on Facebook.
The delivery followed joint coordination between Brega Petroleum Marketing Company and Sirte Oil Company for Production and Manufacturing of Oil and Gas.
A number of officials and oil sector specialists attended the vessel’s reception after technical teams from Sirte Oil completed extensive maintenance and preparation works on the port’s infrastructure.
The works included the maintenance of gas storage tanks TK 1255 and TK 1256, the renewal of loading and return lines connected to the berths and trailer systems, as well as additional technical modifications aimed at improving safety standards at loading sites.
The National Oil Corporation said the resumption of LPG tanker arrivals, after a stoppage of nine years, reflected the success of efforts by the corporation and its affiliated companies to rehabilitate vital facilities and improve the operational efficiency of the oil sector in a way that supports the national economy.
