Brega confirms fuel safety and steady supply

The Brega Company for Oil Marketing has sought to reassure the public over fuel quality, confirming that supplies across Libya remain safe and distribution is continuing as normal.
In a statement, the company said it had taken precautionary measures after detecting an unusual odour in limited quantities of fuel. The affected batches were immediately withdrawn from circulation and replaced with compliant supplies to ensure the integrity of distribution.
Brega stressed that fuel currently available at service stations is safe for use and free from any technical or operational issues.
The company also clarified the scope of its responsibilities, noting that its role is confined to the receipt, distribution and field testing of fuel products. It added that the approval of chemical specifications for imported shipments falls outside its remit.
In response to increased demand and congestion at filling stations, Brega said it had activated an emergency plan aimed at stabilising supply. Measures include raising pumping rates and maintaining round-the-clock operations to ease pressure on forecourts and restore normal service levels.
The statement comes amid public concern over fuel availability and quality, with authorities moving to reassure consumers and prevent further disruption to daily life.
