EU countries vow to make Britons suffer if they adopt Brexit and decide to leave

Britain is going to be made to suffer for its choice to leave the EU (if it chose so) warned European countries.

If the British people voted in a referendum on Thursday to leave the European Union, they would have to prepare themselves for a tough and unforgiving response, with capitals across Europe intent on deterring other countries from following the British example, European officials andanalysts said.

“I hope and believe that the British will ultimately decide against Brexit. The withdrawal of Britain would be a heavy loss for Europe.” The German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, told Spiegel magazine.
