Libya deports 57 irregular migrants via Benghazi’s Benina airport

Libyan authorities have deported 57 irregular migrants through Benina International Airport in Benghazi as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal migration, the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency has announced.

The agency said that six Bangladeshi nationals were repatriated to their home country, while 51 Sudanese migrants were deported in coordination with the Sudanese consulate in Benghazi.

In a separate development, the investigation unit at the agency’s Ajdabiya branch detained 31 migrants accused of engaging in organised begging.

Officials said those detained included 12 women and 19 minors. The agency confirmed that legal procedures have been initiated and that arrangements are under way to deport them in accordance with Libyan regulations.
