The spokesman of the Libyan forces led by Misurata brigades under the command of the Presidential Council’s Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous operation, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, said they controlled the hotels compound in Sirte, pointing out that it is a very strategic area as it is only 2 km away from Ouagadougou Conference Halls Compound and 100 m away from Dollar Neighbourhood and Ibin Sina Hospital.

Al-Ghasri added that the Misurata-led forces are now working according to military tactics, saying their decisive advance to the hospital, block 1 and block 2 is very near and pointing out that the final operation against the IS militants will be in the coming two days in coordination with Tripoli’s operation room under the Presidential Council’s command.

He also said that their forces lost 4 fighters and 32 ones were injured on Tuesday, saying this was a result of the assistance of the “friendly troops” of the US, otherwise we would have lost more too many fighters as we used to do before.

Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported Tuesday that American special operations troops have for the first time started directly supporting Libyan forces battling IS in their key stronghold of Sirte.
