Libyan forces: Final battle to retake whole Sirte began

The media office of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous military operation confirmed that their forces started Sunday removing the sand barricades from the entrance of the neighbourhood 3 before they storm it and root IS militants out of it.

This comes as the final stage of the battle against IS in Sirte after the Misurata-led forces completely controlled neighbourhood 1 after an all-out advance from different frontlines.

IS militants are now hiding out in small area in the nooks of neighbourhood 3 and some nooks of neighbourhood 1 as the Misurata-led forces prepare to retake the whole city and eradicate the terrorists from them.

On Saturday, the media office announced that some families of the IS militants in those neighbourhoods responded positively to the deadline for leaving the city and only some of them remained with the militants.
