Menfi rallies security chiefs in Tripoli

The head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, has chaired a high-level meeting with senior military and security leaders as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and reinforce state authority across the country.
The meeting brought together acting Chief of the General Staff Salah al-Namroush, intelligence chief Hussein al-Aeb, and the heads of key security bodies. These included the Stability Support Apparatus under Hassan Bouzriba, the Deterrence Apparatus led by Abdul Raouf Kara, and the Presidential Guard headed by Atiya al-Talib.
According to officials, discussions focused on the latest security developments and on enhancing joint coordination between military and security institutions. The talks emphasised the need to unify ranks, enforce discipline, and protect state institutions amid ongoing challenges.
The expanded meeting followed a separate session held earlier on Monday between al-Menfi and senior field commanders, including Mahmoud Hamza, commander of the 444 Combat Brigade and head of military intelligence. That meeting reviewed the security situation in the capital, Tripoli, and surrounding areas, alongside measures aimed at tightening security control.
The discussions form part of a broader series of consultations launched by al-Menfi on Sunday, focusing on the readiness of security forces in western Libya and efforts to unify the country’s fragmented military institutions under the authority of the Presidential Council.
Participants stressed that enforcing the rule of law remains a central pillar for achieving stability and social peace, describing it as a key step towards creating the conditions necessary for holding long-awaited national elections.
