Tripoli tells owners to move abandoned cars

Libya’s capital begins clearing abandoned cars from its streets

Authorities in Libya’s capital, Tripoli, have launched a campaign to clear abandoned and derelict cars from public streets, beginning in the city centre before expanding to four neighbouring municipalities.

The Tripoli Security Directorate has urged owners to move their vehicles voluntarily. A committee overseeing the campaign will identify cars left on the streets and arrange their removal to designated sites under existing legal procedures.

The operation, coordinated with municipal authorities, will gradually extend to Hay al-Andalus, Abu Salim, Ain Zara and Souq al-Jumaa.

The directorate said the campaign aims to ease traffic, improve safety for road users and restore the appearance of public streets.
