Haftar to run for president of Libya in March 2018, agreement with Al-Serraj says

Sources reported that the meeting that took place in the UAE between the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Serraj, and the commander of the Operation Dignity in eastern Libya, Khalifa Haftar, had been successful.

The sources, who asked to remain anonymous, added that the two parties agreed to form communication channels between the PC and the Operation Dignity (which was described by Haftar as Libyan national army).

Haftar will be nominated for president of Libya in March 2018 in an agreed on upcoming elections for president and for the parliament, the sources revealed, adding that Al-Serraj expressed satisfaction with this point.

On Wednesday, the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will arrive in the UAE to back up the new agreement and the peaceful solution for Libya’s crisis, according to the sources.
