Progress reported at new Misurata International Airport
Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) has announced that construction of the new Misurata International Airport has reached 50% completion.
The facility, covering 24,000 square metres, is designed to handle 3.5 million passengers annually. The airport will feature four aircraft gates and 15 passenger processing stations, built to international standards.
Construction is scheduled for completion by end-2025. The project aims to enhance Libya’s aviation infrastructure and improve both domestic and international air travel capabilities.
Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah inspected the construction site alongside Transport Minister Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, Misurata’s Mayor, and the head of the executive team for Presidential Initiatives and Strategic Projects.
During the visit, Dbeibah emphasised the project’s role in modernising Libya’s aviation sector to meet international standards.
