Algeria ‘neutral’ in Libya, says Tebboune

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has firmly rejected recent allegations accusing Algeria of interfering in Libya’s internal affairs, reaffirming his country’s commitment to neutrality and support for the unity of the Libyan people.
In a statement addressing regional speculation, President Tebboune said: “There is absolutely no truth to these rumours. Algeria remains steadfast in its principle of non-interference and stands at an equal distance from all Libyan parties.”
The Algerian leader stressed that his country holds no special interest with any Libyan faction and continues to uphold fraternal ties with the Libyan people.
“Our position is not driven by agendas or alliances, but by a sincere desire to see peace and stability restored in Libya. We support a political solution that reflects the will of all Libyans and preserves their country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he added.
President Tebboune’s remarks are consistent with Algeria’s long-standing diplomatic stance, which favours inclusive dialogue and national reconciliation over foreign military involvement or partisan influence.
As a neighbouring state with deep historical and social ties to Libya, Algeria has on several occasions offered to facilitate inter-Libyan talks and played a mediating role aimed at de-escalation and consensus-building.
“Algeria’s only objective is to see the fraternal Libyan people overcome this crisis through unity, dialogue, and mutual respect,” Tebboune concluded.
