Tripoli and Algiers strengthen oversight cooperation

Libya and Algeria boost anti-corruption ties at African summit

The Chairman of Libya’s Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Qaderbouh, met with Salima Mesrati, President of Algeria’s High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and the Fight Against Corruption, to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation and strengthening the exchange of expertise in anti-corruption practices.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 7th General Assembly of the African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities, and was attended by Libya’s Ambassador to Algeria, Saleh Hemma, according to an official statement from the Libyan Authority.

Talks focused on enhancing the existing partnership between the two oversight bodies, aligning their strategic goals in governance, regulatory affairs, and anti-corruption frameworks, and developing effective mechanisms to detect and prevent administrative and financial misconduct.

Both parties emphasised the critical importance of institutional collaboration and the mutual exchange of experiences in promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in public administration.

The two sides also explored the prospect of drafting a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalise and expand their cooperation, based on the outcomes of the discussions.
