Libya and Turkey discuss support for detained nationals
Libya’s ambassador to Turkey, Mustafa al-Qalib, has held talks with Turkish Deputy Interior Minister Ali Çelik on easing administrative procedures for Libyan citizens, particularly residency permits for patients and students.
During Friday’s meeting in Ankara, the two officials also discussed coordination over Libyan nationals detained or serving sentences in Turkish prisons, according to the Libyan embassy.
The talks addressed procedures for deporting Libyans found to have breached Turkish law, with the cases to be supervised and followed by the embassy in Ankara and the consulate-general in Istanbul.
The embassy said Çelik reaffirmed the Turkish Interior Ministry’s commitment to working with the Libyan diplomatic mission to facilitate services for Libyan citizens within the limits of Turkish law.
