Aguila, Turkish Envoy Discuss Cooperation

The Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Guven Begich, held a series of meetings with eastern Libyan officials on Monday, beginning in Al-Qubba before travelling to Benghazi.
Parliament spokesman Abdullah Blihaq reported that Ambassador Begich met with House Speaker Aguila Saleh to discuss bilateral developments and cooperation.
Whilst in Benghazi, the ambassador convened with several officials, including Civil Aviation Minister Hisham Abu Shakiwat and the head of the municipality’s executive council. Their discussions encompassed prospective Turkish Airlines operations to Benghazi and business cooperation possibilities.
The Secretary-General of the General Command, Lt Gen Khairi Al-Tamimi, also received the ambassador. In a statement, Al-Tamimi noted their talks centred on mutual cooperation.
The visit included discussions regarding infrastructure development and economic partnerships between Turkish and local enterprises. Earlier cooperation between the regions comprised various projects until 2014.
Any resumption of Turkish Airlines flights to Benghazi would require standard aviation authorisation and regulatory approval.
