Anti-Security Threats Agency confirms death of Ahmed Al-Dabashi

Libya’s Anti-Security Threats Agency has announced the killing of one of the most prominent armed group leaders in the coastal city of Sabratha, during a pre-dawn security operation on Thursday.
In a statement, the agency said Ahmed Al-Dabashi, known by the nickname “Al-Amu”, was killed when its units raided a hideout linked to his armed group inside the city.
The operation followed an earlier armed attack targeting one of the agency’s checkpoints near the hospital junction in Sabratha. Six members of the force were seriously wounded in the assault and were transferred to intensive care, according to the statement.
Local reports from Al-Ahrar’s correspondent in Sabratha indicated that clashes have continued since early morning across several areas of the city, including the hospital road, Al-Tanara along the coastal route, Al-Dababshiya, Palm Island and the Kharsan area, amid a heavy security deployment.
The agency said its forces stormed a hideout belonging to the armed group during the operation, where Al-Dabashi was killed, while his brother was arrested at the scene.
The Anti-Security Threats Agency stressed that it will continue to “pursue anyone who threatens the security of the city”, adding that security operations remain ongoing and that further updates will be announced as developments unfold.
