Dabaiba blames foreign interference for Libya’s political stalemate

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba has attributed Libya’s prolonged transition to multiple foreign interventions, arguing that Libyans themselves remain united despite political divisions.

Speaking at the Government Communication Forum in Tripoli, Dabaiba criticised parliament members for seeking to maintain their positions with foreign support. He called for the House of Representatives and State Council to meet in Tripoli rather than abroad at “exorbitant costs”.

The Prime Minister pledged to step aside for a new government once fair electoral laws are established, emphasising the need either to complete the constitution or develop equitable legislation before presidential elections.

He rejected further transitional periods and insisted any new government must emerge through a freshly elected parliament. Dabaiba noted that disagreements over presidential elections stem from political parties rather than the Libyan public.
