End of an era: Algerian ambassador bids farewell to Libya

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah held a farewell meeting Wednesday with outgoing Algerian Ambassador Suleiman Shanin, commending the diplomat’s contributions to strengthening bilateral relations during his tenure.
During the meeting, reported by Hakomitna media platform, Prime Minister Dbeibah emphasized the ongoing cooperation between Libya and Algeria across multiple sectors. The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to Ambassador Shanin for his future endeavours.
Ambassador Shanin expressed gratitude to Libya’s Government of National Unity for their cooperation throughout his diplomatic posting. He highlighted the historical depth of relations between the two neighbouring nations and reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to maintaining strong coordination with Libya.
Algeria has appointed Abdel Karim Rkaibi as its new ambassador to Libya, following Shanin’s three-year term which ran from 9 December 2021 to 20 January 2025.
