French Foreign Minister: Al-Serraj government must include Khalifa Haftar
The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault, has called upon the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayz Al-Serraj, to expand his upcoming new cabinet of the Government of National Accord (GNA) so that a place for Khalifa Haftar – the leader of Dignity Operation – is secured.
At the international meeting on Libya in Paris – where no one from Libya was present – Ayrault said the GNA must find a post for Khalifa Haftar, who is still away from the dialogue, adding that all Libyan parties should unite to fight terrorism not only in Sirte but also in all around the country.
“Situations in Libya have not got better yet and the GNA has not been approved by the House of Representatives in the east yet, which will make difficult for it to control a unified army and to make benefit of the oil, which eventually must be controlled by it.” The French Foreign Minister indicated.
On Monday, the Foreign Minister of the GNA, Mohammed Sayala, said in a presser in Algeria that the GNA is not at odds with Khalifa Haftar because he was appointed by the HoR in a legal way, pointing out that the GNA’s problem with Haftar is that he refuses to be under the authority of the Presidential Council.
