Administrative Control Authority ramps up efforts to fast-track key infrastructure works

Abdullah Qaderboh, Head of the Administrative Control Authority, convened a comprehensive meeting at the Authority’s headquarters in Tripoli to tackle pressing challenges hindering the progress of critical infrastructure projects across the transport, housing, utilities, communications, and public administration sectors.

The meeting brought together senior officials from the Housing and Utilities Projects Implementation Agency, the Transport Projects Implementation Agency, and the Administrative Centres Development Agency. Discussions focused on overcoming significant obstacles including funding shortfalls, coordination gaps between agencies, quality assurance concerns, and delays in meeting project deadlines.

Qaderboh emphasised the urgent need to establish a robust financial and administrative framework to accelerate delivery of priority projects. He called for integrated implementation plans closely aligned with national development goals and sustainable growth priorities.

Among the flagship projects highlighted were the completion of Tripoli International Airport, advancement of the Third Ring Road, the Al-Hadhba sewage treatment station, and the construction and refurbishment of educational facilities, alongside procurement of essential medical equipment for hospitals in Zliten and Zuwara.

Participants agreed on the critical importance of accurate cost assessments, realistic budgeting based on available resources, and strengthened oversight mechanisms to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

The meeting concluded with a firm commitment to enhance inter-agency coordination, provide regular and transparent reporting on project progress and financial management, and reinforce rigorous monitoring to secure the timely, high-quality delivery of Libya’s strategic infrastructure initiatives.
