Khoury urges Aqila for unified budget
UN envoy Stephanie Khoury urges Speaker of the House Aqila Saleh for a unified budget

The UN Acting Head of Mission Stephanie Khoury has conducted a series of consultations with Libyan leaders to revitalise the political process and advance national elections.
Khoury met with House of Representatives Speaker Aguila Saleh in Qubbah, where she affirmed the UN’s readiness to facilitate solutions for outstanding issues based on principles protecting Libya’s national interests.
In discussions with Presidential Council President Mohammed Al-Menfi, Khoury explored ways to break the political impasse and establish conditions for elections. She also met with Acting Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour and Minister of State Walid Al-Lafi in separate talks.
The meetings emphasised the importance of unifying state institutions, particularly the executive authority, and establishing a unified budget for the coming year. Khoury urged parties to avoid unilateral actions that could deepen institutional divisions.
The consultations focused on implementing Security Council resolutions regarding elections and addressing political, security, and economic challenges.
