Libyan Governments Voice Support for Palestinian Rights

Libyans wave Palestinian flags during a demonstration in Martyrs’ Square, Tripoli

Libya’s two parallel administrations have issued statements opposing forced displacement of Palestinians and supporting Palestinian sovereignty.

The Government of National Unity’s Foreign Ministry released a statement condemning attempts at forced displacement and demographic changes in occupied territories.

The ministry emphasised protecting refugee rights and opposed using force to alter conditions on the ground.

The ministry reaffirmed Libya’s support for an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, advocating for a political solution based on international resolutions.

In a separate statement, the government appointed by the House of Representatives, led by Prime Minister Osama Hamad, denounced practices it said undermined Palestinian rights, including settlement expansion, land annexation, and forced displacement.

Hamad’s government called for maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza. It urged the international community to act against reported violations and support Palestinian rights.
