Libya’s Attorney General calls for swift action on rights investigations
Libya’s Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour has urged prosecutors to expedite investigations related to civil rights and freedoms, according to a statement released by his office on Saturday.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Bab Ben Ghashir minor prosecutor’s office last Wednesday, Al-Sour emphasised the importance of timely completion of freedom-related cases. The meeting was attended by the chief prosecutor of South Tripoli Primary.
Al-Sour called for enhanced oversight of security agency operations and better coordination with law enforcement bodies in executing criminal sentences. He stressed the need to address operational challenges faced by security agencies.
The Attorney General’s remarks come as the justice system continues efforts to strengthen rule of law in Libya, amidst ongoing challenges to institutional stability.
