Maghreb Union calls for a solution to the Libyan crisis
The General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union has stated that it is closely following up the situation in Libya, which has recently deteriorated and has become a cause for great concern.
The Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union, Tayeb El-Bakoush, added in a statement that whenever Libya approaches a solution, there are events that draw the situation backward politically, security wise and socially, as if there are parties inside and outside that do not want a solution and are working to abort it, as he put it.
El-Bakoush referred to the initiative presented by the General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union on June 27, 2022, to hold a Maghreb conference to discuss a political solution to the Libyan crisis, given that this crisis has serious consequences for the Libyan people and the entire Maghreb peoples.
He expressed hope that the political solution would be crowned by organizing transparent elections that would unite the Libyan people and their political and security authority, under the supervision and guarantees of the Maghreb Union, stressing his readiness to make this initiative a success and activate the proposal in order to avoid more bloodshed.
