Menfi, Russian envoy discuss Libya cooperation

Libya-Russia diplomatic talks focus on political settlement and bilateral cooperation

Libya’s Presidential Council Head Mohammed Menfi met with Russian Ambassador Aydar Aganin in Tripoli to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and the latest developments in Libya’s political transition.

During the meeting at the Council’s headquarters, discussions covered political, economic, and security developments, as well as recent UN mission initiatives.

The Russian ambassador reaffirmed Moscow’s support for Libya’s political settlement process and path towards general elections.

According to the Russian embassy, talks also addressed the detention of Hannibal Gaddafi in Lebanon.

The embassy stated that Russia remains ready to support Libyan partners in resolving the internal political crisis and unifying the country through consensus amongst all major parties.

Menfi expressed appreciation for Russia’s support in international forums and voiced hope for continued cooperation between the two nations.
