NGO criticises EU migration funding in Libya
German aid organisation SOS Humanity has accused the European Union of funding questionable entities in Libya’s migration control efforts, according to a new report.
The organisation claims the EU and its member states are complicit in human rights violations against refugees and migrants in Libya. It specifically criticised EU funding for Libya’s Rescue Coordination Centre and Coast Guard, alleging these bodies fail to meet international law standards in rescue operations.
SOS Humanity, which conducts Mediterranean rescue operations, argues that current EU migration policies contribute to systematic rights violations.
