UK Ambassador to Libya: HoR is the only legislative authority in Libya
The British Ambassador to Libya, Peter Millett, said Thursday that the House of Representatives (HoR) is the only legislative authority in Libya.
“The Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) is very clear in separating the authorities and whose article 12 says the HoR is the (sole legislative authority) in Libya.” Millet added.
On Wednesday, the High Council of State said the HoR, which is formed by the LPA, has not been shaped yet which compels the HCS to be the one to exercise the authorities given to the HoR by the LPA as per articles 16,17,18.
The HCS is a consultative body formed by the LPA signed in December 2015 i Morocco’s Skhirat and is now operating in Tripoli and is headed by Abdelrahman Al-Sweihli.
