A group of Libyan citizens residing in the United Kingdom has initiated a petition requesting the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to reassess its current travel warnings for Libya.

The petition aims to enable the resumption of regular flights to Libya. Organisers believe this would benefit individuals with family, business, or humanitarian connections to Libya, whilst also improving bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a statement acquired by Libyan Express, the group encourages all Libyan citizens in the UK to sign the petition through the provided link.

The statement notes that 10,000 signatures would require the British government to provide an official response, whilst 100,000 signatures could result in the matter being considered for parliamentary discussion.

This initiative comes as many Libyans in the UK express concerns about travel restrictions that limit their ability to visit family members and manage business interests in Libya.

The petition organisers hope that a review of the travel advisories would create new opportunities for positive engagement between Libya and the United Kingdom.
